Full-time
We're looking for a Solutions Engineer/Forward Deployed Engineer who loves helping developers successfully deploy Iroh in production. As Iroh grows, we're shipping more products, supporting more deployment models, and working with teams building increasingly ambitious systems. We need someone who takes ownership of making those deployments successful.
You'll be the technical partner customers rely on from evaluation through production. You'll become the expert on everything iroh. When customers run into problems, you'll help solve them. When you notice patterns, you'll improve the product so the next customer never hits the same issue.
On occasion, you'll also work directly with customers to build production integrations or features as part of professional services engagements.
What you’ll do
- Help developers deploy Iroh successfully in production, from first proof of concept through large-scale deployments
- Become the technical expert across the entire Iroh platform, including our open source libraries, hosted services, documentation, observability tools, and support infrastructure
- Debug complex networking, deployment, and performance issues across diverse customer environments
- Run weekly meetings with customers that you are working directly with on strategic engagements.
- Turn customer feedback into product improvements by working closely with engineering and product
- Write production-quality customer code when needed as part of professional services engagements
- Traveling to conferences and/or on-site with customers at least twice per quarter.
- Develop a deep understanding of how customers use Iroh and advocate for their needs throughout the product
You might be a fit if
- You’ve worked in developer relations, solutions engineering, sales engineering, customer engineering, or professional services
- You've deployed and operated production software and enjoy working directly with developers to solve hard technical problems
- You're comfortable moving across the stack and learning new languages or platforms when needed, from Rust to Flutter and ESP32 to Windows.
- You enjoy debugging unfamiliar systems and can quickly isolate root causes in complex environments
- You communicate technical concepts clearly and enjoy teaching other engineers
- You like owning outcomes, not just writing code
- You're excited by the variety that comes from working with many different customers, use cases, and technology stacks
- Bonus: you have built something with iroh already.
Every production deployment teaches us something. This role is how those lessons become a better product, better documentation, and a better experience for every developer who adopts Iroh.
If that's you, reach out and send along something we can read to get to know your work—an open source profile, a system you've deployed, customer-facing technical work you're proud of, or a write-up that shows how you approach solving real-world engineering problems.
If that sounds interesting, send us an email. The address is jobs@ this domain. If you want to learn more, jump in the iroh discord & ask us.
If you do decide to apply for this role, we're delighted! However, please take the time to craft a message you would be proud of. We will review your email with real human eyeballs, but won't bother to reply if your message feels templated or under-considered.
